9 – Major Rivers
During your research remember our class discussions. Arkansas has more than 9,700 miles of rivers and streams that crisscross it 33,323,237.7 acres of land. Keep in mind that there are thirty-three rivers that pass through Arkansas, beginning and ending in others states or run along the borders. River locations played a major role in the establishment of cities and towns in the early years of Arkansas. Rivers and streams are used interchangeably to represent a body of water with land on two sides. Bayous (sluggish), brooks, and creeks are smaller streams. There are 12 major man-made lakes of the more than 600,000 acres of lakes, which were created to control flooding. Lakes are surrounded by land, larger lakes are usually named with the word “Lake” first before its’ actual name.
During your research find an image, picture or video of three of these rivers to include in your movie. You will also have to add text or voice to tell the name of the evidence and the importance. See sample picture below:
